She will share her academic expertise in education and intercultural studies to give you insight in how to engage with different cultures as you travel internationally. In 2017 alone, more than 300,000 people began the Camino de Santiago – a network of trails throughout Spain, France and Portugal. Many more are looking for information for their own pilgrimage. Join us for this presentation by Joette Reidy, who has hiked the 500-mile French Route, the Way of Saint Francis of Assisi to Rome and the Portuguese Route. Friday’s 101 seminar will cover general information on completing your route. Saturday’s 201 presentation will go into specific topics of long distance hiking, the different routes, training and how to pack. [Main Floor]

The ACA State Director of Missouri and Alpine Shop’s lead kayak instructor, Perry has raced in the grueling 340-mile paddle race across the state of Missouri 11 times! and brought home a trophy three times.

Noon by Khai Johannes, Flight Attendant, Deuter Packs Professional

Living by the mantra, “it’s not that you only live once, but that we only have one life to feel alive as often as we can”, Khai sees every day as a chance for adventure and experience. In his search for both, he stumbled into the airline industry. Flying from Denver to LA for lunch, then to Portland for dessert, seemed ridiculous until it became routine. Team River Runner is a national organization that believes every wounded or disabled veteran deserves the opportunity to embrace new challenges through adaptive paddling programs. Kathie Brennan leads an all-volunteer army of care-takers for one of the nation’s Top 10 Longest Backcountry Trails and longest multi-use National Recreation Trails with over 420+ miles located in your own backyard. Get an enlightening look at this true ‘hidden gem’ and all it has to offer from hiking to mountain biking, as well as obstacles in keeping it open for the public. [Main Floor]

One of the most influential women in Midwest cycling, Carrie is one of the driving forces behind SHERO MTB, an organization dedicated to helping women discover new opportunities for themselves through mountain biking. This program is an interactive conversation to help women find the tools and resources available to feel comfortable with mountain biking, no matter their experience level. [Conference Room]

The 2,300-mile-long Mighty Mississippi has played a crucial role in the growth of the United States. The 200-mile section from the confluence of the Missouri River near St Louis, MO to the confluence of the Ohio River at Cairo, IL is referred to as the Middle Mississippi, and there you’ll encounter thousands of years of history! On that stretch of the River you’ll pass Civil War sites, countless steamboat wrecks, historic Native American villages, ghost towns, French forts, and encounter an extreme diversity of wildlife. We’ll also discuss logistics of paddling on the Mississippi and other large rivers. (Main Floor)

The World’s Longest Non-Stop River Race, the MR340, has been listed as one of National Geographic’s Top 100 American Adventures and it draws hundreds of paddlers from around the world. Best of all, it happens right in our backyard. Discover more about this iconic race with the man who started it all, MR340 race director, Scott Mansker. (Main Floor)

Missouri Confluence Waterkeepers is a local, grassroots organization working to protect clean water for fishing, swimming, paddling, and drinking. Founder and Director, Rachel Bartels, will be sharing information about their initiatives at this program before hosting the Water Docs Film Festival at 7:30 pm. (Main Floor)

In 2015, Rachael completed a two week trek through Philmont south country as crew leader for the St. Simons Venture Crew. She has returned to backpack every year since, including assisting with trail conservation throughout the Rockies. Entering its eighth year, the Tour of Hermann is a gravel ride through gorgeous Missouri wine country near Hermann, Mo. Participants can choose between as little as 30 miles and as many as 202! Find out more about this unique race held right here in the heartland from two riders who have completed the entire 202 miles of riding. [Main Floor]
