Backpacker Get Out More Tour – 2022

Join Backpacker’s outdoor experts as they bring the pages of Backpacker Magazine to life in St. Louis with an informative and inspiring backpacking gear and skills CLINIC, an interactive DEMO HIKE, and an outdoor-access celebrating PINT NIGHT.

Backpacker’s Get Out More Tour is back and arguably better than ever! Alpine Shop is honored to be one of only 25 events being held around the country, and the only outdoor retailer in the state of Missouri. And yes, you read that correctly above, Al-Pint Nights are returning, too!

Backpacker Get Out More Tour Schedule of Events:

Tuesday, June 28, 6 pm: Gear & Skills Clinic at Alpine Shop Kirkwood
Wednesday, June 29, 9 am: Demo Hike with the Ozark Trail Association – Location TBA
Thursday, June 30, 6–8 pm: Al-Pint Night benefiting the Ozark Trail Association at Alpine Shop Kirkwood.

Gear & Skills Clinic

Join all-star ambassador Randy Propster for an engaging 75-minute seminar full of trail-tested tips, regional trip advice and outdoor gear information on Tuesday, June 28 at Alpine Shop Kirkwood.

Propster is traveling to only 25 different outdoor retailers across the United States throughout 2022. And Alpine Shop is the only place you can attend this event in the state of Missouri.

No registration is necessary for this event. A reception and a chance to talk to Randy begins at 5:30 pm, with the main presentation beginning at 6 pm

Demo Hike:

Put some of your skills from the Clinic the night before to the test with this Demo Hike on Wednesday, June 29 at 9am. Hosted by the Get Out More Tour crew and the Ozark Trail Association, we’ll start at the highest point in Missouri – Taum Sauk Mountain State Park – and proceed down the Ozark Trail.

More information will be posted as it comes available!

Al-Pint Night:

Do you remember how this works? It’s been more than two and a half years since we’ve been able to host an Al-Pint Night! But here’s how it will go: From 6-8 pm, a donation of $10 to the OTA gets you two pints of local beer in a souvenir cup. All profits go directly to the Ozark Trail Association.

We’ll keep the store open late for all pint night participants!

The Mission of the Ozark Trail Association (OTA) is to develop, maintain, preserve, promote and protect the rugged, natural beauty of the Ozark Trail, a National Recreation Trail in Missouri. Find out more about the Ozark Trail, and the Ozark Trail Association, here.
