Ticks! What You Need to Know

TICKS!!!

If you spend much time outdoors in Missouri, there’s a good chance you’ll eventually end up with a tick feasting on your blood.

Yeah, it’s kinda’ gross, but grossing you out is only part of the problem. Missouri is highly endemic for several tick-borne diseases. You’ve probably heard about some of them—such as Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Tularemia, and Alpha-gal syndrome. Some of those diseases are worse than others, but none of them are good for you.

We want to try to reduce the number of exposures in our region and one of the ways we think we can accomplish that is by providing information to anyone who’ll listen.

Justin Hinson from the St Louis County Department of Public Health is coming to the Alpine Shop to tell you everything you want to know about ticks (and then some).

And you’ll have ample opportunity to ask questions!
