Wednesday Night Sunset Paddle

Ready to see what life is like on the water? Come on out to one of our Wednesday Night Sunset Paddles. No experience is necessary to learn how to kayak from one of Alpine Shop’s ACA Certified Instructors.

After you’ve spent the evening with us on the water, you’ll have learned the basics of kayaking including basic strokes how to enter and exit the boat and basic safety skills.

We strongly suggest attending one of our Paddling 0.5 : Dry Land Basics seminars before taking this course.

You will get wet so wear appropriate clothing and footwear!

Wednesday Night Sunset Paddles are a brief introduction to paddling a kayak. Students are presented with basic information on dressing to paddle safely and potential hazards and simple rescues. A minimal paddle skill set is presented and practiced, allowing students to safely and comfortably maneuver on still water.

Class skills include:

  • Basic strokes to maneuver your craft.
  • Review the dangers of paddle sports and how to plan an appropriate course to avoid potential hazardous situations.
  • Independently get out and from under a capsized paddlecraft
  • Remount or reenter the paddlecraft following deep water capsize independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
